Who Should Take This Course?

This course is designed for healthcare providers who need ACLS for their clinical duties. This group of professionals includes physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and others as required by their employer.

What Does This Course Teach?

HeartCode® ACLS is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. There are a variety of additional videos as well as the ACLS Provider Manual and the 2015 Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care to enhance learning and facilitate successful completion of the patient cases.

ACLS Heartcode- Skills check

This class is for students who have completed the ACLS Heartcode Online Course.

AHA ACLS Provider

This 2 day 16 hour advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

AHA BLS

The BLS Healthcare Provider Course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including doing ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). It’s intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings including in-hospital and out-of-hospital.

 

AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED

The Heartsaver® First Aid Course provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical minutes immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. Course content includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies and Injury Emergencies. Optional topics include CPR and AED, and Environmental Emergencies. 

The Heartsaver® CPR Course is a modular course that teaches lay rescuers how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children. 

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

Persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace or community as well as those who want to learn first aid, CPR and AED skills.  Some rescuers are required to take this course as part of their employer’s efforts to comply with OSHA regulations, e.g., corporate employees, security guards, airline personnel and lifeguards.   

All lay rescuers, such as employees in the workplace, day care employees, babysitters, airline  personnel, security guards, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other lay rescuers, and those who may have a need to respond to an emergency.

AHA PALS Provider

AHA Pediatric Advance Life Support is for healthcare providers who provide advanced level care to pediatric patients. Topics include management of cardiac conditions, respiratory emergencies, shock, Airway, intraosseous access & medication administration 

ACLS and PALS Recertification classes include a Pre-course Self-Assessment that is required to be completed BEFORE attending the course. Students are required to provide the course Instructor with a copy of the self-assessment result at the beginning of the class.

 Proof of completion of the Pre-course Self-Assessment is a requirement to successfully complete the course.

AHA Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid - PEDIATRIC ONLINE

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Online is the eLearning portion of the Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Blended Learning Course. It teaches students information needed to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.

After completing the online portion, students must complete hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor.

Upon successful completion of both portions of the course, students receive a Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.

EMT Initial

The EMT class provides the initial training to apply for certification with the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health. The EMT is responsible for initial assessment, stabilization, and transportation of an injured or medically ill person. EMT’s perform duties, such as, CPR, patient stabilization, airway clearance, hemorrhage control, initial wound care, fracture stabilization, and emergency childbirth. They must exercise good judgment and leadership under stress and must deal with people of all ages experiencing injuries and death. NREMT practical testing included.

 

EMT NCCR Recert Core

This is a 20 hour State of Connecticut approved NCCR recertification course. This also satisfies the 20hr NREMT requirement. This DOES include an AHA CPR recertification, Skills portion, and at end you will be given a link to complete QPR satisfying your mental health requirement.

You MUST also accru an additional 20 hours of CME's to complete your recertification.  

You MUST also submit a State of Connecticut OEMS recertification application via their website. You will receive an email link prior to your expiration.

Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking in Connecticut

This course fulfills the  State of Connecticut Human Trafficking requirements for EMS Providers that was instituded January 1, 2022. The course provides training and technical assistance to inform and enhance the medical professionals response to Human Trafficking by the use of lecture and video. It offers providers the knowledge of how to identify, treat, and respond appropriately to potential victims of Human Trafficking. This training will help healthcare workers identify victims of human trafficking and know what to do if they encounter a victim of human trafficking in the field.

2hrs of CEU's are granted upon completion of this course.

 

CT BLS Skills Stations

This course is designed for currently certified EMT's who require hands-on-skills verification and refresher training as part of certification renewal.

The course focuses on core EMT psychomotor skills and scenario-based application aligned with Connecticut OEMS, and NREMT expectations. Emphasis is placed on safe practice, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Students will participate in refresher training covering airway management, CPR, splinting, bleeding control, medication administration, and hands-on medical and trauma scenarios, including triage.

The course is CT State-approved and counts for 4 hours of CME

PALS Heartcode Skills Check Only

This is for students who have completed the PALS heartcode online course. Certificate must be presented at the start of class.

AHA BLS Refresher
AHA Heartsaver CPR/AED & First aid ONLINE

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED

Heartsaver courses deliver first-class training in the lifesaving skills of first aid, CPR, and AED use. The courses are designed to meet workplace safety and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, Heartsaver can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared to act in an emergency. Upon successful completion, students earn a course completion card valid for 2years.

Ideal for: Anyone who has little to no medical training that need first aid, CPR and AED training to meet job requirements, as well as the general public, childcare workers, teachers, coaches, parents/grandparents, and babysitters.

Upon the completion of the online portion, students will contact the Traing Center to schedule an in person skills session.
